Labor Day!

Hi everyone! Im so sorry this has taken so long to write, but I haven't been feeling well lately.
Labor Day weekend was so wonderful and relaxing! I was in Brainerd at my parents cabin with the family. A lot of us don't get together very often so it was nice to be able to spend the weekend together. We had lots of kids running around, people water skiing, bonfires, happy hour boat cruses and so much good food it was ridiculous! Nick was able to come up for the latter part of the weekend and finally get to meet some more of the family. It was so sad to leave because we didn't know if we would be able to make it up once again this summer. Other than that I don't have much to say, but I did take a lot of pictures to share!

The weather was on our side! This picture was taken on our way to Ivan's on the Bay where we had cocktails and appetizers. So beautiful!

Bad-mitten! My mom and I played Nick and my uncle Jim. They whooped us!

This is my dad's puppy Ranger who seems to be growing 5 lbs a week!

I love this picture because it shows when you have water the kids will come! My parent's lake is so shallow it's perfect for the kids to play in.

State Fair 2009

Nick and I went to the State Fair for the 2nd time together yesterday, and we had a blast! The State Fair is one of my favorite things to do and I get extremely excited for it each year. We lucked out because the weather was fabulous, sunny, but not too hot. We ate tons of food. A couple items that I remember are cheese-curds, footlong hotdog, corn, steak sandwich, deep fried snickers bar, gyro, deep fried pickles, wine ice cream, french fries, and mini donuts! The deep fried pickles and wine ice cream were new favorites to us. If you haven't been to the state fair yet, when you do go, I suggest you try those two things.
Other then eating mass amounts of food, we went on the Old Mill boat ride. A first time for Nick, I told him it was something he had to do incase they shut it down one day. It's been at the State Fair for 96 years! We also went on the faris wheel, went through a couple of fun houses and played some games. Nick won me a huge moose, I honestly think it was the biggest prize you could win at the fair! It was so big it was causing commotion so we brought it to the car. We finally took our tired butts home at midnight. I am sad it's over and I have to wait an entire year to do it again.

Nick hates rides but will amuse me and go on the faris wheel each year.
Every year Nick gets a shirt of us....this year he picked 'what dreams are made of'!

We decided to name him Marty..

Krista's Bridal Shower/Sunday Day Off!

Yesterday was my dear friend Krista's bridal shower which was held at her mom's house in Bloomington, MN. Krista and I met while working at Abercrombie & Fitch as managers. We became quick friends, and although neither of us still work there, we have stayed very close over the years. Krista will be marrying her long time love Jason, with which they have a beautiful son Carter who is 2! I feel honored to be a bridesmaid along with Krista's sister Britta, Jason's sisters Jana and Jourdan, and Krista's good friend Bri. I am so happy for the both of them and wish them the best of luck!

All of the girls in the wedding party!

My beautiful friend Krista!

I look a little tragic, but Krista looks great!

The rest of the afternoon was spent with Nick making tacos for dinner and doing not much else. It was a rare occasion because dinner was at 7pm, which is about 2 hours earlier than normal, followed by homemade chocolate chip cookies (ok, I had a little help from Nestle) and Law & Order reruns.

Camping 2009!

This weekend Nick and I decided last minute to go camping before the summer was over. Like usual we had a very late start and didn't get to Taylor Falls until night time, pulling into the campsite around 10:30 pm. Surprisingly, being this late on a Sunday night, there were no open spaces! We decided we would try a different campsite about 20 miles down the road until we realized Nicks car was overheating. We pulled into a gas station in downtown Taylor Falls shut off the car went inside to buy some anti-freeze and firewood, all to come back out and have the car not start at all! After getting a jump from one of the locals and it now being 11:30 at night, we decided to stay at the only hotel in town to play it safe. It was secluded and a bit creepy, if you have ever seen the movie Vacancy you know exactly what I'm talking about, I swear they filmed that movie from the room we stayed in. It was quite the road bump but we chose to make the best of it anyways and actually had a really great night checking out one of the local bars and chilling on the patio at the hotel over looking the town

Nick being a creep in our creepy room!

The next day was beautiful and we were able to get a space at the original campground we wanted. We spent the entire day hiking around the river and climbing the rocks. That night we grilled a couple of steaks, had a bonfire and met our extremely nice neighbors. Couldn't have asked for a better day!

Nick and I's first tent together! We purchased it last year before our first camping trip.

What a great day!

Our summer night adventure!

Yesterday, Nick and I took off on an adventure! We have been so busy this summer we haven't really had time to explore our neighborhood, so we decided to take off hand in hand and head to downtown Linden Hills. We have had such a hectic year it was nice to sit outside with just each other, have a couple of beers and catch up. Linden Hills is such a fabulous neighborhood, much quieter than Uptown and Downtown. All we saw while sitting outside were families walking their dogs and the whole idea felt calming. To finish the night off, on our walk home someone started playing jazz music from their porch, right out of a movie. We sat on the sidewalk and enjoyed ourselves! It was such a lovely summer night.

I've decided that we live in the best neighborhood Minneapolis has to offer and I hope we will be living here for a very, very long time!

Petitio!

Awhile back Nick had built me a little patio that we like to call our petitio! I promised some people pictures so here they are! We live in South Minneapolis and it's so nice to have our own little place to sit outside and relax. This summer we have decided to grow basil and tomatoes and the are flourishing!

Here it is! It looks so tiny!

These are the beautiful Hydrangeas we planted.

Our first ever tomatoes! Can't wait to eat these guys.

The basil plant that won't stop growing. We have trouble deciding what to even make with all this basil...if you have any suggestions please send them to me!

First Post!

Hi Everyone! This is my first post so please be forgiving with me! Nick and I spent the weekend in Brainerd for a wedding he was not only a groomsman in, but also DJ'ed. Nicks best friend from college, Ben Borer, married the lovely Julie Hanson. We stayed at Craguns, one of the loveliest resorts Up North. Unfortunately I did not get any pictures of Nick and I because he was quite busy, but I did get some of the reception.

As you can see, everyone was having a good time!

This is Craguns. The teal and brown only adds to the ambiance!

This is the view outside our room. Gorgeous.

This is Carrie and Rachael, two very good friends of Nicks from college. They were very nice and took me in since I didn't know anyone. Thank you girls!
